Neon nail polish first emerged into the fashion arena in the eighties. Initially just popular with the 'punk' and 'gothic' crowd, it soon became popular in mainstream fashion. Current trends have seen a resurgence of neon nail polish with nails painted in bright colors such as pink, yellow and blue.
