Color Nail Polish
Color nail polish is a colored liquid used to paint finger and toe nails. It enhances the appearance of nails while protecting them. Color nail polish became popular in the twentieth century. It was first introduced in the year 1920. However it is believed to be invented by the Chinese in 3000 B.C. Gold, silver and red are known to be the most preferred colors for nail polish in the ancient times.
Color nail polish is made of nitrocellulose dissolved in a solvent. Color pigments are then added. It is similar to car polish and requires nail polish remover that contains acetone in order to remove.
Color nail polish comes under many brands. There is a wide variety of colors and shades to choose from. Some nail polishes come with glitter. Color nail polish comes in both matte finish and shiny finish. There are some nail polishes that give a metallic finish as well.
It is easy to apply nail polish. It can be applied by a professional along with a manicure or easily applied at home. A base coat can be applied before the application of color nail polish to protect the nail. Some very dark color nail polish may leave stains on the nail after removal. Applying a base coat will stop these stains. Two coats of nail polish of a preferred color can be applied after the base coast. Nails should be allowed to dry completely after the application of each coat. If the next coat is applied before the nails have dried, it can cause smudging and damage to the nail polish. A protective clear top coat can be applied after the application of color nail polish. This gives a shine to the nail and stops the nail polish from peeling out.
Even though most nail polishes last for only a few days, there are some long lasting nail polishes in the market. They are called extended wear polishes and last longer without chipping. Other types of nail polishes include fast drying polishes, growth enhancing polishes and strengthening polishes. Strengthening polishes contain protein that helps to protect nails from breaking. Growth enhancing polishes improve the nail growth and contain vitamins and other ingredients. Some all- in-one color nail polish comes together with the base coat and the top coat. Color nail polish can be used for nail art as well.
Color nail polish can be worn to suit the color of the dress. It is best to choose nail polish colors that complement the skin color. Deep colors suit darker skin tones while shades of pink are best suited for pale skin. Orange and brown shades are suitable for bronze and olive skin colors. Most popular nail polish colors are shades of red and pink.
